During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements.

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 1/14/25, as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 2:12pm and ended at 4pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 14 children present and 3 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 6 staff records on-site This inspection included; document review, tour of the facility, interviews and observations. Additional information was received on 2/7/2025.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five business days from today, which will be the close of business on 2/18/2025. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-E Description: The operational responsibilities of the licensee shall include ensuring that the center's services are maintained in compliance with these standards and the center's own policies and procedures that are required by these standards. The center did follow these standards or it?s own policies and procedures regarding medication as there are expired authorizations, expired medications, no parent signature and one prescription medication without a prescription label in the medication lockbox. Plan of Correction: Expired medication and authorization was returned to the parent.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Areas and equipment of the center shall be maintained in a clean, safe condition. There is a hole in the bathroom door with splitting wood exposed. Plan of Correction: The small hole on bathroom door was repaired.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. There were unlocked chemicals in the adult bathroom. Plan of Correction: During inspection, a lock was placed on the adult bathroom cabinet.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-F Description: Centers shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) when centers choose to provide meals or snacks. The snack served to children today and listed on the posted menu did not follow the most recent UDSA requirements. Plan of Correction: Staff was re-trained regarding ensuring menu changes are indicated on the menu and USDA guidelines are followed.
