An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on 02/24/2025. The onsite inspection began at 11:40am and ended at 04:17pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 58 children present and 11 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: The center shall ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, are maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. There were areas of chipped paint in the Preschool 2, KPrep, and Movement Matters rooms, accessible to children. Loose wooden planks were observed along the fence and at the base of the light fixture on the playground. The planks could be moved in a way that created a potential pinching or entrapment hazard. Plan of Correction: Orders have been put in for repairs.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-420-E-3 Description: Staff shall request at least annually parent confirmation that the required information in the child's record is up to date. Up-to-date information is required to be requested from the parent for each child's record at least annually. The information in the record of child #1 had not been updated in over 16 months which is overdue by four months. Plan of Correction: Administration will work with online enrollment to require an update for parents to complete in the system.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-E Description: Centers are required to practice shelter in place procedures a minimum of twice per year. The center did not practice shelter in place procedures in 2024. Plan of Correction: One shelter in place drill has been completed for 2025. The center will ensure two shelter in place drills are completed every year moving forward.
