An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 02/26/2025, as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 12:00pm and ended at 1:30pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. There were 27 children present and 6 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 8 staff records. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-A Description: The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE)-sponsored orientation course shall be completed within 90 calendar days of employment. Staff A, employed since 2016 and observed in the classroom with children did not have documentation of having the VDOE sponsored 10 hour pre-service orientation or the annual 3 hour update training. Plan of Correction: Staff A is currently working on completing the 10 hour required training.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-260-A Description: ( REPEAT VIOLATION) The center shall provide to the licensing representative an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction. The last documented fire inspection provided by the director was dated 11/09/2021. Plan of Correction: The director contacted management to follow-up on the fire inspection. The Fire Marshal will be contacted and a date of inspection provided to the licensing office.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Areas and equipment of the shall be maintained in a safe condition.
There were 2 bathroom sinks that were loose and the cabinetry's linoleum was chipped and peeling.Plan of Correction: A work order had been place for this repair. The director will follow-up with maintenance to find out the status.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-430-I Description: Combs, toothbrushes, or other personal articles shall be individually assigned.
The center had a tube of toothpaste that was not labeled in such a way that identified who it was individually assigned to.Plan of Correction: The toothpaste will be individually labeled to whom it belongs to.
