During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was initiated on 3/5/2025 and completed on 3/20/2025 with a local agency in response to a self-report received by the licensing office on 2/27/2025 relating to forbidden actions. The inspector reviewed 1 child?s record and 1 staff record on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 4/16/2025. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-400-A Description: In order to promote the child's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being and growth, staff shall interact with the child to provide needed help, comfort, support, and encourage decision-making abilities.
Staff #1 asked Child #1 (Age 4) "a few times nicely" to go wash their hands before then grabbing Child #1 by the wrist and dragging them across the room to go and wash their hands.Plan of Correction: The managers will retrain the staff on positive behavior guidance in order to promote the children's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being and growth.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-410-1 Description: The following actions or threats thereof are forbidden: roughly handling a child.
On 2/26/2025, Staff #1 grabbed Child #1 (Age 4) by the wrist and pulled the child approximately 10 feet across the classroom with the child's body and feet dragging on the floor.Plan of Correction: The staff member was placed on administrative leave effective 2/26/2025 and is no longer employed with La Petite Academy or Learning Care Group.
