During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 5/7/2025. The on-site inspection began at 10:00 AM and ended at 12:00 PM. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 119 children present and 22 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 6 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, a tour of the facility, interviews and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-3 Description: The child day center shall complete a central registry search request prior to the first date of employment for each employee.
Employee #1 was employee for 5 days prior to the center completing a central registry search request.Plan of Correction: We will start doing it.
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4 Description: The child day center shall obtain an out-of-state central registry background check for each employee that has lived outside of the state of Virginia within the last 5 years within the first 30 days of employment.
Staff #4s sworn disclosure statement documents that the staff person has lived in Maryland within the last 5 years. Staff #4 has been employed by the center for 13 months and the center has not yet obtained the results of a Maryland central registry background check.Plan of Correction: The request was submitted but we haven't received the results. We will contact Maryland to try and get the results.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
A spray bottle labeled 'bleach' was observed on a shelf in room 8. The cleaner was not locked.Plan of Correction: We will get the class a lock box to start using today. We will need to purchase a new cabinet for the room that has the ability to be locked.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A Description: Hand washing: Children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water after diapering and staff shall wash their hands with soap and running water before and after a diaper change.
A child was observed having their diaper changed in room 8. The childs hands were not washed and the staff did not wash their hands after the diaper change was complete.Plan of Correction: The staff will be reminded of hand washing policies.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-G Description: When food is brought from home, food containers shall be sealed and clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner.
A food container for child #5 was observed on top of the cubby shelf in room 7. The container did not contain todays date.Plan of Correction: The staff should be labeling the containers if the families do not. They will be reminded to label anything taken out of lunch boxes.
