Technical Assistance:
Beginning February 1, 2026, licensed child day programs, licensed family day systems, and voluntarily registered family day homes shall refer to Chapter 8VAC20-821, General Procedures for the Licensure of Child Day Programs and Family Day Systems and Background Checks. This chapter replaces 8VAC20-770, Background Checks for Child Day Programs and Family Day Systems; 8VAC20-820, General Procedures and Information for Licensure; and 8VAC20-830, Fee Requirements for Processing Applications. For information and resources related to 8VAC20-821, please visit: https://www.childcare.virginia.gov/providers/what-s-new.

Discussed allergy lists, medications, and information with the center and documentation for these items.

Comments:
An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on February 3, 2026, as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 12:30 p.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 74 children present and 20 staff. The inspector reviewed 8 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, and observations. A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the licensing inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this SHSI, and this single inspection report reflects findings related to licensing standards and subsidy standards. Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five business days from today, which will be the close of business on February 10, 2026. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M
Description: The center is required to keep a current list of all known allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions in each room or area where children are present. The list must be dated and kept confidential.

The allergy lists in 7 out of 7 classrooms were not current and had children listed who were no longer enrolled and children who have moved to different classrooms.

Plan of Correction: The allergy list will be updated and a plan will be put in place to update the allergy list upon transitions.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A
Description: Each center shall maintain and keep at the center a separate record for each child enrolled that contains all of the required information.

The record for Child #4 (enrolled 2 days), was missing the addresses of two designated people to call in an emergency if a parent cannot be reached.

Plan of Correction: The addresses will be obtained and corrected today.
