10:00-11:55am Conducted an unannounced religious exempt program inspection. Observed 48 children + 8 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were rehearsing for an evening performance. Staff were actively engaged with the children and rehearsal. The facility was found to be very clean, safeguarded appropriately, and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children today. In addition to classrooms, there were rooms for music, art, creative play, and active indoor play. Administrative non-compliances were found.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-C-2 Description: Based on interview conducted, it was determined that 1 of 6 staff did not have a completed sworn disclosure statement prior to the first day of work, or a central registry check (CPS) within the first 30-days of employment. Evidence: The Director said that Staff #1 did not have these background check documents because it was thought to be not required for staff in a substitute teacher role. Plan of Correction: Staff #1 is not expected to return to the preschool in the fall. Moving forward, all staff will have the required background checks.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-A-6 Description: Based on records reviewed, it was determined that required information was not disclosed in writing to parents/guardians and the general public. Evidence: The enrollment capacity was not in writing. Plan of Correction: This will be added to the parent handbook, which is posted on the website for public information.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-B-3 Description: Based on interview conducted, it was determined that staff have not received training in the daily health screening training of children. Evidence: The Director reported that while they do visually screen children each morning at arrival time, they have not received a formal training on the topic. Plan of Correction: Staff will be trained in daily health screening in August.
