Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was completed on 8/8/2024. The on-site inspection began at 2:20pm and ended at 4:00pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 96 children present and 16 staff. The
inspector reviewed 9 children?s records and 4 staff records on-site and electronically on 8/8/2024. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable
standards or law and violations were issued. The violations can be found on the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-3 Description: Based on a review of staff records, 1 out of 4 staff did not have a copy of the results of a search of the central registry maintained pursuant to ? 63.2-1515.
Evidence:
1. Staff #4 (doh: 7/17/2023) had results of a central registry search on file that were dated 6/30/2024. The central registry results are required to be obtained within 30 days from the date of hire.Plan of Correction: We will ensure background checks are complete within the required timeframe.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-G Description: Based on observation, all food brought from
home was not labeled with the name and date.
Evidence:
1. 4 lunch boxes in the Snow Leapords group containing food from home were not labeled with the date for the day.
2. 2 lunch boxes in the Snow Leapords group containing food from home were not labeled with the child's name or date for the day.Plan of Correction: We will make sure lunch boxes containing food from home are labeled with the child's name and the date each day.
