The Licensing Inspector for First Baptist Church of Martinsville (Early Learning Center) conducted an announced Monitor Inspection on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Licensing Inspector arrived & started inspection at 1:20 PM. There were a total of forty-eight (48) children ages 3 months - 4 years old present under the direct care & supervision of seven (7) staff members. The Center Director was also present during today?s inspection. The Licensing Inspector reviewed five (5) children records & five (5) staff records. Center does not administer medication. LI Anderson conducted an exit interview along with reviewing the Risk Assessment and the areas of non-compliance with the Center Director on January 30, 2020. Inspection concluded at 4:45 PM. Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-2 Description: Based on review of staff information, the Center failed to ensure each employee, volunteer or any other person who is expected to be alone with one or more children enrolled in a religious exempt child day center has completed Central Registry Background Check within 30 days of employment or commencement of service.
EVIDENCE: Licensing Inspector information for five (5) staff members. Information for Staff #5 did not include evidence of completed Central Registry (CPS) Background Check.Plan of Correction: The program will send documentation to the Licensing Inspector that the background checks have been requested no later than 10 days following this notification
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on review of staff information, the Center failed to request and obtain a copy of the results of a search of the central registry and any child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry maintained by any other state in which the staff member has resided in the preceding 5 years.
