Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements.

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was initiated completed on 11/20/2024. The inspection started at 10:57 am and concluded at 12:00 pm. There were 4 children present and 1 caregiver; the point total was 10. The inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 1 caregiver and 2 household member(s) records.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
IF VIOLATIONS ARE CITED, AND A POC HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED, ADD THIS PARAGRAPH: Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Standard #: 22.1-289.036-A Description: The family day home is required to have household members undergo a background check every five years.
The record for household member #1 did not have a updated central registry. The central registry finding was eight months overdue.Plan of Correction: The provider will request the Central Registry finding and forward them to the inspector once the results are received.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-F Description: Caregivers who work directly with children shall complete 16 hours of training annually, to
include the department's health and safety update course.
The provider did not complete the department's updated health and safety course.Plan of Correction: The provider will complete the subsidy health and safety training and forward the information to the inspector.
