22VAC40-191 Background Checks for Child Welfare Agencies
An unannounced renewal inspection was initiated today at 11:30pm. The physical plant, 2 caregiver/household member files, 4 children's files, caregiver training, children's activities, emergency procedures, drills and supplies were inspected today. There were 7 children, totaling 17 points, under the supervision of 1 caregiver. During the inspection, children were observed enjoying free play, playing educational computer games and having diapers changed. The interactions between the children and caregiver was seen to be positive and constructive in nature. The children bring their own lunches from home each day. The Provider is not currently certified in MAT (medication administration training) and there are no children with any medication needs at this time. She is certified in CPR and First Aid. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-100-A Description: Based on file review, 1 out of 4 children's records does not have documentation of a physical examination on file. Evidence 1. Child #1 does not have a physical on file. Plan of Correction: The provider will ask the parents for this.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-180-A Description: Based on file review, 1 caregiver/household member does not have a TB test/screening completed within the past two years. Evidence 1. Caregiver/household member #2's most recent TB test/screening was completed on 2/18/13. Plan of Correction: This will be completed again.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A Description: Based on observations and file review, there was an insufficient number of caregivers for the points that the children totaled. Evidence 1. There were 7 children, totaling 17 points, under the supervision of the Provider today. Plan of Correction: The Provider's assistant left last week. She is currently looking to hire another assistant.
