An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. The provider and one assistant caregiver were caring for 11 children, totaling 25 points. The children were observed finishing lunch, assembling puzzles, playing with toys, and preparing for their afternoon nap. The children had been served spaghetti with cheese, sliced grapes, spinach, and milk for lunch today. This inspection took place between approximately 11:40 am and 12:30 pm. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-C Description: Based on a review of emergency drill documentation, it was determined that the provider has not documented each month's evacuation drill. Evidence: The provider did not document the evacuation drill for January, 2016. Plan of Correction: We did 2 drills in January. I will remember to record each drill when we do them.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-170-A Description: Based on a review of caregiver records, it was determined that the provider has not obtained a TB Health Screening for one assistant caregiver. Evidence: Assistant caregiver #2 began working with the children in January, 2016. This caregiver has not submitted a TB Health Screening to the provider. Plan of Correction: I will make sure she gets a TB test completed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-460-I Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider has not kept all of the dog's items inaccessible to the children. Evidence: The provider very recently purchased a puppy. The puppy's water bowl, food bowl, and toys were on the floor in the child care area adjacent to the kitchen. Children were observed assembling puzzles on the floor in the area where the dog's items were stored. Plan of Correction: The children are only in that room today because one of my assistant caregivers is not here to be with them downstairs. I brought a small group of children upstairs with me while I made and cleaned up lunch. Normally the children stay downstairs away from the puppy. The dog's items will be moved away from the children.
