An initial licensing inspection was conducted on May 31, 2016, by appointment, between the hours of approximately 10:00 a.m. and 2:05 p.m. There were twelve (12) children enrolled and five children in the care of the provider and assistant on this date. The provider's record, assistant's record and all children's records were reviewed. The home and outdoor play area were toured. All areas of the licensing standards were observed/reviewed, including but not limited to: home maintenance, including "childproofing;" stairway gate; landline telephone; first aid kit and emergency supplies; posted information (daily schedule, emergency telephone numbers, menu, daily schedule and emergency evacuation diagram); available records/documents and caregiver training (first aid/cardiopulmonary resuscitation). Program observation was completed. Activities observed on this date included: coloring; indoor play with Legos; storytime; outdoor play; restroom, diapering and handwashing procedures; lunch (chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans and milk), naptime routine and equipment (mats and linens) and arrival of one child. Adult/child interactions, behavior guidance and daily routines/transitions were also observed. The daily schedule and menu were consistent with the activities provided and the meal served. The children knew and followed the daily routine and transitions well. No violations of licensing standards were cited during this initial inspection. Thank you for your time and assistance during the licensing process. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
