Today we discussed voluteers.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between 10:00am and 1:00pm. There were 10 children in care and one resident child present. The licensee and a volunteer were present. Children present totaled 13 points. Children were observed in provider and self-directed activities including sensory play (play-dough and water), reading stories and drawing, hand washing and snack, transitions and outside play. The provider reports there are not any new children in care. One volunteer record was reviewed. There is not any medication being administered at this time. One violation in the are of physical environment and equipment was cited and may be viewed on the violation notice.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-250-B Description: Based on observation and interview a provider failed to ensure that children are protected from materials that could be swallowed or present a choking hazard. Toys or objects less than 1-1/4 inches in diameter and less than two inches in length shall be kept out of reach of children under the age of three years. Evidence: 1 - At approximately 11:43am, child 1 a 19 month old, picked up and object, from the floor and put it in her mouth. Household member 2 took the object out of the child's mouth and threw it in the trash. 2 - In addition to the 19 month old child there was a 2 year old child (child 2) in care as well. 2 - Household member 2 stated that the object was a hair bead. Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure all areas are free from choking hazard materials when children under three years of age are in care.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
