Technical Assistance:
It was discussed that documentation of a fireplace inspection is needed prior to the expiration of the six month conditional licensure period. One child in care prefers to sleep with his blanket over his head. Routine monitoring to move the blanket to expose the child's face was discussed to ensure adequate supervision of the sleeping child. Currently there is only one baby who drinks from a bottle in care. It was discussed with the provider that if more than one bottle fed infant is in care, the bottles must be labeled with the infant's full name and the date.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 1:15 PM and departed at 2:50 PM. Five children, ages three months - three years, totaling fourteen points, were in care with one caregiver. Nap time and transition to afternoon activities were observed. Those areas of the home not used for child care were inspected for obvious/potential hazards. It was reported that no medication is administered to the children in care and that there have been no children's injuries. A sample size of three children's records were reviewed. Four caregiver/household records were reviewed. Emergency supplies were inspected. An exit interview was conducted with the provider prior to closure of the inspection. Please contact the inspector at (757) 404-2575 if there are any questions.
