An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today. Observed 4 children (12 points) directly supervised by 1 caregiver. Ratio and supervision were in compliance. A sample of 2 children's records, 1 caregiver record, and 1 household member record were reviewed. The physical plant, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. No medications were reported to be on site. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: free play, circle time / reading, and rest time. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. The exit interview was conducted with the Provider. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-900-B Description: Based upon observations made, children were allowed to eat and drink while walking. Evidence: Three children (Child B, C, and D) were observed walking while eating crackers and drinking from sippy cups during today's inspection. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-D Description: Based upon documentation reviewed, an equipment used by a child was not used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Evidence: A nursing pillow intended for lifting baby to a more ergonomic position for comfortable feeding was used as a pillow for Child A during nap time. The manufacturer's instructions states that for safe sleeping all soft bedding, toys, pillows, including nursing pillows, should be removed from the baby's sleep area.
