- Technical Assistance:
An exit interview was conducted with the provider to discuss the results of today's inspection. Consultation was given regarding the licensing process and upcoming renewal inspection.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, January 18, 2017 to determine the provider's compliance with licensing standards. In attendance were 2 children totaling 8 points being supervised by the provider. Children were observed interacting with the provider while playing with toys . Children's books, toys, and equipment were inspected and found to be age appropriate and in operable condition. All rooms of the home used by children were inspected with no hazards found.
The family day home had the required postings displayed on the wall board upon entering the home. The first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and emergency supplies were inspected. One child's record and one assistant's record were inspected with the required information found. The following was also inspected: fire drill log, emergency preparedness plan, parent agreements, and other pertinent information. See attached notice for violations found on this day.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A Description: Based on the inspection of administrative records, the required drills were not practiced and recorded. Evidence: During the inspection of the evacuations drills, it was discovered the evacuation drills for November and December were not practiced and recorded as required. Licensing standards require evacuations drills to be practiced monthly with documentation maintained for review. Plan of Correction: Per provider: I will practice the fire drills monthly and record them as required.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-450-A Description: Based on the inspection of the home, the required decorative objects were not displayed. Evidence: During the inspection of the home, it was discovered the front storm door glass panel did not have any decorative objects at the eye level of children in care. Plan of Correction: Per provider: I will buy some decals and place on the storm door glass.
