22VAC40-191 Background Checks for Child Welfare Agencies
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11:30am-12:30pm. There were 3 children (3 points) directly supervised by 1 staff. The home, 1 staff records, 2 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating snack. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was a supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation, all furnishings of the family day home were not maintained in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: A bouncy chair had a dried up liquid which was not cleaned up and pieces of crumbs and dirt on the surface. Plan of Correction: I will clean it up.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-340-C Description: Based on observation, the provider did not have a paper towels in the bathroom. Evidence: The bathroom had no paper towels available in the bathroom utilized by children. Plan of Correction: Paper towels were placed in the bathroom on the date of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-590-B Description: Based on observation, an infant who fell asleep in a car seat was not moved promptly to his/her designated sleeping space. Evidence: Upon entrance into the center, an infant was asleep in their car seat which was placed in the crib. Provider indicates the baby arrived asleep in the car seat and was allowed to stay sleeping in the car seat for about 30 minutes prior to the inspector's arrival. Plan of Correction: The child was removed from the car seat, woke up, and placed into a baby swing.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D Description: Based on observation, the diaper changing surface was not cleaned and sanitized after each use. Evidence: After diaper changing, the provider cleaned the area with a cleaning agent but did not sanitize. Plan of Correction: I will do both steps clean and sanitize with bleach and water solution.
