An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, 3/17/17. A violation notice was completed regarding the violations found during today's inspection. There is one repeat violation found during today's inspection. Upon arrival the children were playing with the available toys. Lunch, hand washing, diapering, and nap was also observed. There are 11 children in care totaling 28 points with two caregivers. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to call. Inspection began: 9:50 am and ended1:50 pm.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-E
Description: Based on observation during the inspection the provider failed to have a barrier around a portable heater. Evidence: 1. The portable heater is located between two highchairs, the children use these highchairs during snacks and lunch. 2. There is no barrier preventing the children from touching this heater.

Plan of Correction: A barrier will be placed around the electric heater.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-400-A
Description: Based on observation during the inspection the provider failed to maintain the inside temperature 65 degrees or higher. Evidence: 1. The LI measured the temperature in the back room at 11:00 am and it was 62 degrees, at 12:30 pm the temperature was measured in the primary room used by the children and it measured 62.6 degrees.

Plan of Correction: The provider will monitor the temperatures in the areas used by the children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-460-A
Description: Based on observation during the renewal inspection the provider failed to keep a family pet off of the area where food is prepared. Evidence: 1. During the inspection one of the dogs made it into the day care area and went to the table that had the left over food and the children's cups on it. 2. The dog was able to get the left over chicken nuggets off of the table.

Plan of Correction: The dog was sent back upstairs as soon as discovered downstairs and the table was cleaned.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-5-a
Description: Based on review of records the provider failed to obtain a central registry check (CPS) on two house-hold members within 30 days of becoming 14 years old. 1. Household members # 1 & 2 turned 14 years old eight months ago and there are no central registry checks completed on them.

Plan of Correction: The provider mailed out the state police background checks instead of the CPS checks. The CPS checks will be submitted.
