- Technical Assistance:
The provider and inspector discussed the cleaning routines of the home and creating some organization of materials and supplies available to children.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:50am-11:30am. There were 3 children (6 points) directly supervised by 1 staff. The home, 2 staff records, 2 children?s records, 3 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely, reading and books. Diapering procedures were also observed. There wasof books, toys, and materials for the children. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-C Description: Based on record review and observation, the provider is missing documentation of emergency evacuation and shelter in place drills conducted. Evidence: The last documented emergency evacuation drill was February 16, 2017. There is no documentation of the March evacuation drill. The provider stated the drill was conducted on Friday, March 31st but could not provide the documentation. Plan of Correction: I will make sure to write down all my emergency drills.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-120-B Description: Based on record review, the provider did not maintain a complete record for each assistant provider. Evidence: On 4/3/2017, while reviewing records, the provider stated the record for the assistant was not in the home but at the assistant's home. Plan of Correction: I will have the assistant bring it tomorrow.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-50-B Description: Based on record review, the provider did not maintain records in the home and were not accessible to the licensing inspector. Evidence: On 4/3/2017, the provider stated she discarded attendance sheets for weeks past. Plan of Correction: I will keep the the records going forward.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation, the provider did not maintain all areas and furnishings of the family day home in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: In the play room, there is chipping paint underneath the upper window. One of the baseboards. also underneath the upper window, is beginning to pull off the wall and may cause a hazard to the children. The floor and carpet have debris and some dirt visible and need vacuuming. Plan of Correction: We will scrape and paint the wall. We will glue and nail the baseboards to the wall. We will vacuum and clean up.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observation, cleaning agents and disinfectants were stored in an area accessible to children. Evidence: Upon inspection of the bathroom, there were several cleaning agents and detergent which were placed on top of the washing machine accessible to children. Plan of Correction: The cleaning products were placed on a high shelf inaccessible to children at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-80-120-E-2 Description: Based on record review, the provider did not have the most recent inspection of the facility posted. Evidence: The last inspection posted for the facility was from 2015. The licensing inspector's last inspection visit was conducted in September 2016. Plan of Correction: I will post.
