22VAC40-111 Caregiver Training
Licensing Inspector arrived at 11:00 AM and departed at 1:00 PM to conduct an unannounced renewal study. At the time of the inspection, there were five children, ages infant through preschool, in care with two caregivers. Children were observed reading books, eating lunch and napping. The sample size was four caregiver/household and four children's records. Violations were noted in the areas of physical health of caregivers & household members, caregiver training, emergencies.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-B Description: Based on review of the emergency response log, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that shelter-in-place procedures are practiced a minimum of twice per year. Evidence: There was no documentation that the shelter-in-place procedures had been practiced in the last year. Plan of Correction: Provider will ensure that shelter-in-place drills are held and documented.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-180-A Description: Based on review of four caregiver/household records, it was determined that the provider did not ensure a Tb screening was obtained every two years from the date of the first screening. Evidence: The most recent Tb screening / test for caregiver/household member #4 was dated 10/20/13 and was, therefore over two years old. Plan of Correction: Household member #4 is moving out of the home on the 17th.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A Description: Based on review of caregiver records, it was determined that the caregivers did not obtain a minimum of 16 clock hours of training annually. Evidence: Certificates in the file indicate that they have completed four or six hours of training. Plan of Correction: Caregivers will obtain training.
