Comments:
An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on July 18, 2017, between the hours of approximately 10:25 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. This inspection was conducted in conjunction with a licensing renewal inspection. Thirteen (13) children were enrolled and seven children were present, with three caregivers, on this date. Subsidy requirements were reviewed for compliance. The exceptions to compliance were noted on the accompanying violation notice. Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-C
Description: Based on review of four caregivers' records and discussion with caregiver #1 on July 18, 2017, the program failed to ensure two caregivers hired prior to the effective date of the Subsidy regulation completed the Virginia Pre-Service Training for Child Care Staff within 90 days of the date the regulation became effective. Evidence: 1. Review of caregiver #2's record, on this date, revealed that the Pre-Service training was completed on 7/16/2017 (employment date - 1/29/2016). 2. Review of caregiver #3's record, on this date, revealed that the Pre-Service training was completed on 7/01/2017 (employment date - 6/12/16). 3. Caregiver #1 verified the dates of training and employment.

Plan of Correction: In the future, Pre-Service training will be completed within the required time periods.

Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-E-1
Description: Based on review and/or update of four caregivers' records and discussion with caregiver #1 on July 18, 2017, the program failed to ensure current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was obtained within 30 days of employment by one caregiver. Evidence: 1. Review of caregiver #4's record, on this date, determined that CPR certification had not been obtained (employment date - 6/12/2017). 2. Caregivers #1 and #4 confirmed the current lack CPR certification.

Plan of Correction: CPR will be done.

Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-E-2
Description: Based on review and/or update of four caregivers' records and discussion with caregiver #1 on July 18, 2017, the program failed to ensure current certification in first aid was obtained within 30 days of employment by one caregiver. Evidence: 1. Review of caregiver #4's record, on this date, determined that first aid certification had not been obtained (employment date - 6/12/2017). 2. Caregivers #1 and #4 confirmed the current lack first aid certification.

Plan of Correction: First aid will be done.
