- Technical Assistance:
All new staff must have background checks returned within 30 days of starting work. If there is a problem, you must document the date that you checked on them. Technical assistance today included: locating the diaper table closer to the water source, with the step-on trash nearby. We also discussed the location of the indoor toddlers slide; safe bulletin boards and the standard regarding proficiency in English for assistants.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. There were four children in care with the provider and assistant for 9 points. I observed children playing in a pretend tent; looking at books with the provider; eating lunch and preparation for naptime. Records were well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: During today's inspection, some areas and furnishings were observed to not be maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The smoke detector was beeping, indicating that it was not operable. 2. In the children's playroom, two lighting fixtures on the ceiling had bare light bulbs. 3. A piece of carpet in the children's area had a torn edging, causing a potential tripping hazard. It had been taped but the tape was no longer effective. Plan of Correction: 1. I will have my husband fix this. 2. We will put the lamp shades back on. 3. Re-taped during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-250-A Description: During today's inspection, some hanging items and appliance cords were observed to be accessible to children in care. Evidence: 1. Strings from the blinds on the entrance door were observed to be accessible at child height. 2. Cords from two pole lamps were accessible at child height, and a child was observed pulling the plug out. 3. Cords were accessible in the playground from an unused security camera, dangling above the children's play area. Plan of Correction: 1. Corrected during inspection. I will get something to keep the strings permanently out of reach. 2. Corrected during inspection. I will remove the two lights or keep cords in a way so children cannot reach them. 3. The security camera will be removed this weekend. For now, we will play on the other side of the playground.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
