Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:00am-10:00am. There were 5 children (9 points) directly supervised by the provider and one assistant. Children were observed building puzzles and preparing for a field trip to Six Flags amusement park. The children have been completing a unit on air and space, building rockets, and painting a large model rocket. The family day home focuses on STEM projects and incorporates field trips to museums to further their children's learning. Sunscreen application was observed and hand washing procedures. The home, staff records, children records, household member records, and evacuation drills were inspected. One medication on site today for severe allergic reaction and the provider is MAT certified. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and age appropriate materials for the children. The materials were organized in bins by science themes. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact Megan Smith at megan.smith@dss.virginia.gov
