Technical Assistance:
Consultation provided on requirements for volunteers and caregivers under the age of 18.

An unannounced renewal study was conducted today with the provider. Twelve children were present with two caregivers and a volunteer. The children and caregivers were outside engaged in water play and a variety of outside activities at the beginning of the inspection. Upon coming inside, the children changed into dry clothes and prepared for lunch ( chicken nuggets, fries, cantaloupe, watermelon and oranges and milk). No child had medication on site and there have been no injuries/accidents. Twelve children's files were reviewed as well as the two caregivers and the volunteer's file. Arrival time: 12:25 pm Departure time: 1:50 pm

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-900-B
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that a preschooler was allowed to walk around the day care while drinking out of her cup. Evidence: The Licensing Inspector observed a preschooler walk around while drinking out of a cup.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure to redirect children to sit down while drinking or eating.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-150-B
Description: Based on observation and interviews it was determined that Person A is under the age of 18 and was not under the direct supervision of the providers, while caring for an infant. Evidence: Person A (DOB 10/5/01) is 15 years of age and according to the provider is a volunteer, however the Licensing Inspector determined that Person A was alone with an infant in the day care area ( basement) while the other 11 children and the two caregivers were outside. The caregivers were not able to hear or see the volunteer.

Plan of Correction: Person A is our volunteer, she took the infant inside to change her wet clothes after water play. We will make sure Person A is always under our sight or sound supervision at all times.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
