54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from approximately 8:50am-10:15am. There were 9 children (26 points) directly supervised by 3 caregivers. A sample of 5 children?s and 2 staff records were reviewed. The children were observed playing with each other, entering the facility, using blocks and eating breakfast. The play area was well maintained with books, toys and age appropriate games. No new staff have been hired since the last inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Evidence: 3 out of 5 records reviewed were missing required information including: 1) Child A - Missing insurance policy number; and relocation point on the emergency preparedness document. 2) Child B - Missing insurance policy number; father's work address and work phone number 3) Child C - Missing insurance policy number. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-220-B Description: Based on documentation reviewed caregiver was not retrained for medication administration with three years. Evidence: The medication administration training (MAT) completed by Caregiver 1 expired 03/18/2017. This Caregiver is the only person MAT certified and there were children in attendance who were prescribed medication from a physician. Plan of Correction: A class has been scheduled.
