Technical Assistance:
Reviewed all current and upcoming changes to background check procedures. All future communication regarding background check procedures will only be distributed via email. The home must be completely ready for children to enter care before opening the child care area on Monday morning.

Comments:
An announced modification inspection was conducted today. The provider is scheduled to open the child care in her new home on Monday, October 16, 2017. The indoor and outdoor physical plant, adult caregiver records, administrative documents, and emergency preparedness items were inspected today. This inspection was completed between approximately 9:45 am and 11:20 am. Thank you for meeting with me today. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-770
Description: Based on a review of emergency preparedness items, it was determined that the provider does not have all required items. Evidence: There is no working battery operated flashlight on site.

Plan of Correction: I will get a new flashlight before children enter care on Monday.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A
Description: Based on a review of emergency preparedness documents, it was determined that the provider has not updated the emergency preparedness plan as required. Evidence: The provider has not updated the "method to alert" information and the shelter in place scenario information in the emergency preparedness plan.

Plan of Correction: I will update the plan before children enter care on Monday.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-A
Description: Based on a review of administrative documents, it was determined that the provider does not have an up-to-date record for each enrolled child. Evidence: The provider has not brought the children's enrollment records over from the old home into the new home.

Plan of Correction: I will bring the records before children arrive for care on Monday morning.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two electrical outlets were not covered. Evidence: Two outlets next to the sink in the children's bathroom were not covered.

Plan of Correction: I will cover the outlets before children arrive for care on Monday morning.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-I
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider has not yet equipped the child care with all required fire prevention items. Evidence: The provider has not equipped the child care area with a fire extinguisher.

Plan of Correction: I will bring the fire extinguisher from the old home before children enter care on Monday.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-340-C
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the children's bathroom is not equipped as required. Evidence: There are no paper towels in the children's bathroom.

Plan of Correction: I will put the paper towels in the bathroom before children arrive for care on Monday morning.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-A
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider has not yet equipped the child care area with a sufficient quantity and variety of materials and equipment. Evidence: The provider has not furnished the child care area with a large enough variety of toys, materials, and programming necessary to care for the enrolled children.

Plan of Correction: I have brought some of the stuff from my old home. I will bring the rest of the child care things before children enter care on Monday morning.
