Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 2:45pm-4:15pm. There were 6 children (15 points) directly supervised by 1 staff. The home, 1 staff records, 5 children?s records, 1 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating snack, washing hands, playing with blocks. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was an supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-B
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not practice shelter in place procedures a minimum of twice per year. Evidence: The last documented shelter in place drill was conducted in November 2016.

Plan of Correction: I will do a shelter in place drill twice a year.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-30-A
Description: Based on record review and observation, the provider did not ensure compliance with the terms of the current license. Evidence: The provider is licensed for a maximum of 5 children. On the date of inspection, the provider had 6 children in care.

Plan of Correction: I will discuss with the family on finding care for the child.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B
Description: Based on observation, the caregiver did not ensure all children's hands were washed with soap and running water. Evidence: Children were observed preparing for snack and eating snack without washing their hands before eating.

Plan of Correction: We will wash hands before every meal.
