Online training resource provided for staff. Discussed the Code changes regarding background checks and anticipated implementation of fingerprinting.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 12 children (31pts) with Provider and 2 assistants present. Morning free time play, circle time and craft project was observed. The younger children were in one room playing with blocks, climbing mats and directly supervised by one assistant. The older children were participating in circle time, reviewing the calendar and singing songs. Observation of a craft project was made which involved fine motor skills such as coloring and cutting with scissors. The children transitioned to outdoor play and was observed coming back inside, washing hands and sitting down for lunch. Lunch today was pasta and milk. A total of 7 children's records and all staff records were reviewed. One medication on site, authorization was determined complete. This inspection began at 10am and ended at 12:20pm. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A Description: Based on review of 3 staff records, 2 out of the 3 staff did not receive required training. Evidence: Staff #2 and #3 did not receive any annual required training in the past year. Plan of Correction: Provider will ensure that these staff begin training and receive the required 16 hours of training.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D Description: Based on observation of diapering procedures, the diapering area was not maintained. Evidence: After staff completed a diaper change for one child, staff failed to properly clean the diapering surface was soap and water and sanitize with bleach and water. Plan of Correction: Provider will re-train this staff regarding proper procedures for cleaning and sanitizing.
