An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on December 4th 2017 between 8:30am and 10:00am. There were 6 children in the direct care of 3 staff members. Children were observed having free play, working on words and sounds, building, coloring, and eating snack. Staff were observed to be consistently engaged with the children during the different activities. The day care space is clean, organized, and offers plenty of materials for the children to choose from. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A Description: Based on observation, the emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly. Evidence: In April 2017 and June 2017 the shelter in place procedures were practiced in place of the evacuation procedures rather than in addition to. Plan of Correction: We will do the drills this month.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-530-F Description: Based on interview, a stuffed toy was being used around infants. Evidence: During the inspection a blanket with an attached stuffed toy was located in a crib. The provider stated that the child that uses the crib is 15 months old and uses the blanket during nap time per the request of the parent. Plan of Correction: The item was removed from the crib during the inspection.
