An exit interview was conducted with the provider to discuss the results of today's inspection. Consultation was given regarding updated background check requirements.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, January 23, 2018 to determine the provider's compliance with licensing standards. The inspection was initiated at 1:30pm and concluded at approximately 3:15pm. In attendance were 7 children totaling 28 points being supervised by the provider and assistant. Children were observed asleep on cots with the appropriate bedding. Today's lunch consisted of kale, sliced oranges, Salisbury steak, sliced bread, and milk. Children's books, toys, and equipment were inspected and found to be age appropriate and in operable condition. The children's restroom was inspected with the required supplies present. All rooms of the home used by children were inspected with no hazards found.
The family day home had the required postings displayed on the wall upon entering the home. The first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and emergency supplies were inspected. One staff's and four children's records were inspected with the required information found. The following was also inspected on this day: daily attendance, fire drill log, shelter-in-place drills, parent agreements, and other pertinent information.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A Description: Based on the inspection of administrative records, the required annual training hours were not obtained. Evidence: During the inspection of administrative records, it was discovered the assistant obtained 12 annual training hours for 2017. Licensing standards require a minimum of 16hrs of training to be obtained each year. Plan of Correction: Per provider: I will locate training for staff and record the training. I will review training during the year to make sure the hours are obtained before the end of the year.
