Technical Assistance:
Reviewed the requirements for all background checks, including fingerprinting background checks. Significant improvement in record keeping skills was noted today.

An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider and one assistant caregiver were caring for 7 children, totaling 18 points. Children's records, caregiver and adult records, caregiver training records, emergency preparedness items, the physical plant, children's nutrition, caregiver health records, and caregiver interactions were inspected today. The provider reported to the Inspector that no children's medications were on site today. The children were observed playing with toys, building with blocks, listening to stories, and preparing to eat lunch. The children were to be served chicken with rice and mixed vegetables, sliced apples, and milk for lunch today. This inspection was completed between approximately 9:30am and 11:45am. Thank you for meeting with today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on a review of emergency evacuation drills, it was determined that there is no record showing that the provider completed a fire evacuation drill every month. Evidence: There is no documentation showing that the provider completed a fire evacuation drill during the month of December, 2017.

Plan of Correction: We did the drill but didn't write it down. I will remember to document every drill.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-170-A
Description: Based on a review of adult health records, it was determined that there is no TB Health Screening on file for one adult living in the home. Evidence: Adult household member A has not obtained a TB Health Screening. This person moved into the home in December, 2017.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure she gets her TB test on Monday of next week.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A
Description: Based on a review of caregiver training records, it was determined that the assistant caregiver did not attend at least 16 hours of training courses during the past year. Evidence: Based on the documentation available during this inspection, the assistant caregiver has documentation showing the completion of only 2 training hours during the past year.

Plan of Correction: She completed the other training hours online but didn't print her certificates. I will have her go back and print the certificates.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that at the start of this inspection, the provider was caring for more than 16 points of children. Evidence: Upon arrival, the provider was caring for a total of 18 points of children by herself.

Plan of Correction: I immediately asked for the adult resident in my home to come down to work as my assistant for today.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
