An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 25, 2018 between the hours of approximately 10:20 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Twelve (12) children were enrolled and two children were in the care of one/two caregivers on this date (4 points). Five children's records and two caregivers' records were reviewed and/or updated. No medications were administered, as is the policy in this family day home. Facility documents (attendance record, emergency evacuation, shelter-in-place and lockdown drills, injury report and rabies vaccination), posted information (daily schedule, license, inspection documentation, emergency plan/diagram, emergency telephone numbers and menu) and safety equipment (first aid kit, flashlight, fire extinguisher and radio) were observed/reviewed. The water temperature was measured and the refrigerator temperature was checked. The lunch served on this date included chili, apple slices, crackers and milk. Program observation was completed. Activities observed included: indoor play; diapering, restroom and handwashing procedures; lunch; and naptime. Adult/child interactions, behavior guidance and daily routines/transitions were observed. The posted daily schedule and menu were consistent with the activities and meal provided. Substantial compliance continues to be maintained; the exception to compliance was noted on the violation notice. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A Description: Based on review of emergency response drill log and discussion with the provider on April 25, 2018, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced in March, 2018. Evidence: 1. Review of the emergency evacuation log, on this date, determined that an evacuation drill was not conducted in March 2018. A lockdown drill and a shelter-in-place drill were conducted. 2. The provider confirmed the lack of an emergency evacuation drill. Plan of Correction: In the future, an emergency evacuation drill will be conducted and documented each month.
