An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 05/21/2018. There were 12 children, ages 3 months-4 years, totaling 33 points in care today. There were 3 caregivers, the provider and 2 assistants, providing direct supervision during the inspection. The inspector reviewed 5 children's records, 1 provider record, 2 assistant records and one household member's record during the inspection. The children were observed in the following activities: large motor play indoors, playing in climbing tunnels, during music and movement, during lunch, in free choice play, and preparing for nap. Infants were observed being fed and allowed to sleep on demand. The inspector observed proper hand washing and table sanitization during the inspection. The inspector reviewed the emergency supplies during today's inspection. The inspector discussed the following with the provider: the fingerprinting process, sleeping arrangements for infants, nutrition, and storing cleaning materials. The inspector verified that violations from the previous inspection had been corrected. The inspector arrived at 10:00 a.m. and departed at 12:45 p.m. An exit conference was held at the conclusion of today's inspection. Thank you for your time today. If you have any questions, please contact Becky Forestier at 540-309-2835.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-E Description: Based on observations and discussion with the provider, the provider failed to ensure that soiled disposable diapers and wipes shall be disposed of in a leak-proof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the caregiver's hand nor the soiled diaper or wipe touches the exterior surface of the storage system during disposal. Evidence: There was a small plastic bag (grocery bag) hanging on the bathroom door knob that contained spoiled diapers; a small plastic bag is not a leak-proof or plastic-lined storage system that is required by the standards for disposing soiled diapers. Plan of Correction: Diapers will only be changed in the room with the step-operated trash can.
