Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted in the family day home on April 24, 2018. Two children were present, the points totaled 4. The Provider and a household member were present at the time of the Inspector's arrival in the home. During the afternoon, a school-age child arrived to the fdh off of the public school bus which increased the points to 5. The children were served an afternoon snack. The children were observed during free play. The first aid kit was observed. The Provider reported that transportation is not provided. A child was picked up by an authorized individual during the inspection. Findings were reviewed at exit. The inspection was conducted from approximately 12:30 to 4:00PM. If you have questions, please contact this LI at 540-309-2310. Thank you.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on direct observations, the Provider failed to ensure areas and furnishings of the family day home were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition. Evidence: The smoke detector located on the main level in the child care room was not in full operable condition. The battery in the smoke detector was making a chirping sound as an alert to indicate the unit's battery was low and needed to be changed.

Plan of Correction: The battery in the smoke detector will be replaced with a new battery.
