Technical Assistance:
New background check regulations were discussed with the provider during the inspection. Fingerprint based background checks must be completed by September 30, 2018.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 1:05pm until 2:45pm. At the time of entrance, there were 3 children in care for a total of 8 points with the provider. A sample of 5 children's records and 2 provider/household member records were reviewed. Children were observed resting quietly during nap time, playing with age-appropriate toys and planning a puppet show. The provider does not administer medication to children in care and does not routinely transport children in a vehicle. There have been no injuries to children in care since the last inspection. First aid and emergency supplies, the emergency preparedness plan, documentation of emergency practice drills and other family day home postings were reviewed. One violation in the area of physical environment and equipment is identified on the violation notice and was discussed with the provider during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that child-resistant protective covers shall be installed on all unused electrical outlets and surge protectors accessible to children under five years of age. Evidence: There was one outlet located on the wall by the sink in the downstairs bathroom used by children in care that did not have a protective cover.

Plan of Correction: The provider placed a protective cover on the outlet during the inspection.
