An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-11:15am. There were 2 children (5 points) directly supervised by the substitute provider until 10:48am when the provider arrived back at the family day home. The home, 1 staff records, 2 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today however the provider is trained to administer medication. Children were observed playing in the screened in porch outside, playing, play dough and reading with a caregiver. Both the provider and substitute provider have exceeded the minimum training requirements for the year; with the provider acquiring 48 training hours in the previous year. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-140-D Description: Based on record review, the substitute provider did not sign the time of arrivals and departures on each day that she works. Evidence: There is not currently a record of times the substitute provider works. Plan of Correction: The provider will begin to keep a record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation, not all areas of the family day home were maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: A 3.5 inch crack was observed on the seat of a plastic picnic table on the screened in porch. Plan of Correction: The provider will remove the table immediately.
