- Technical Assistance:
Discussed age appropriate sleeping patterns for children. The provider shall encourage the older children to sleep on rest cots/mattresses rather than cribs or toddler beds. The provider has a portable play pen in the child care area. The provider was reminded that this piece of equipment cannot be used for napping.
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider was caring for 4 children, totaling 11 points. Children's records, caregiver and household member records, caregiver training, background checks, children's nutrition, the physical plant, and emergency preparedness items were inspected today. The provider reported that no medications and no topical ointment products were on site today. This inspection took place in the middle of the day. All children were napping during this inspection. The children had been served chicken dumplings, brown rice, sliced grapes, spinach, and milk for lunch earlier in the day. This inspection was completed between approximately 12:00pm and 1:10pm. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-510-C Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two occupied rest areas were not spaced at least 12 inches apart. Evidence: The Inspector observed two children sleeping in rest areas that were directly next to each other in the nap room. There was no space between the crib and the open toddler bed. Plan of Correction: I will begin having the older children sleep on rest mattresses instead of in the cribs and toddler beds. I will make sure there is always at least 12 inches in between when they are sleeping.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-540-A Description: Based on observations, it was determined that one infant was not properly strapped into his floor carrier seat. Evidence: Upon arrival, the Inspector observed a 2 month old infant sleeping on the floor in a floor carrier seat. This child was not buckled in with the safety strap fastened. Plan of Correction: The buckle was fastened immediately during the inspection.
