An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, September 26, 2018 to determine the provider's compliance with licensing standards. The inspection was initiated at 1:30pm and concluded at approximately 3:45pm. In attendance were 8 children totaling 19 points being supervised by the caregiver and assistant. Children were observed interacting with the provider and assistant, playing with toys, and watching a children's program. Children's books, toys, and equipment were inspected and found to be age appropriate and in operable condition. The children's restroom was inspected with the required supplies present. All rooms of the home were inspected with one hazard found.
The family day home had the required postings displayed on the wall upon entering the children's room. The first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and emergency supplies were inspected. Five children's records and one caregiver record were inspected with the majority of the required information found. The following was also inspected: fire drill log, parent agreements, daily attendance log, emergency preparedness plan, and other pertinent information. See attached notice for violations found on this day.
If you have any questions regarding today's inspection, contact the licensing inspector at (804) 662-9771.

Plan of Correction: Per provider: I will obtain the documentation from the parent and place it in the record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on the inspection of the home, a hazardous chemical was found accessible in the bathroom. Evidence: During the inspection of the children's bathroom, a can of aerosol spray labeled "keep out of reach of children" was accessible on the counter top. Licensing standards stipulate that all hazardous materials/chemicals must be inaccessible to children. Plan of Correction: Corrected on site.
