An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 10/24/2018. There were 10 children, ages 3 months- 4 year, totaling 28 points, in the care of one provider and two assistants during today's inspection. The inspector reviewed 5 children's records, one provider record, two assistant records and one household member's records during today's inspection. The provider does not administer medication. The children were observed in the following activities: free choice play, music and movement and during lunch. Infants were observed being fed and allowed to sleep on demand. The inspector reviewed the updated emergency procedures and emergency supplies during the inspection today. The inspector discussed the background check requirements with the provider. The Provider submitted the annual licensing fee to the inspector during todays inspection; the inspector will submit the payment to the Regional Licensing Office. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920 Description: Based on observations and discussions, the provider failed to ensure that when meals and snacks are provided by the family day home, the menu for the current one-week period shall be posted in an area accessible to parents. Evidence: There was no menu for the current one-week period posted. The provider stated they had not filled in the menu yet for the week. Plan of Correction: The provider will write in the weekly menu.
Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on record review and discussion, the provider failed to ensure that no person shall be hired for compensated employment prior to the providing obtaining an employment eligibility letter upon the completion of a fingerprint background check as required by the Code of Virginia. Evidence: The record for Assistant #2 had a documented hire date of 08/10/2018. The fingerprint employment eligibility letter was dated 09/10/2018. The provider stated that she thought that she had 30 days to obtain background checks. Plan of Correction: The provider will get the fingerprints before hiring.
