Technical Assistance:
As discussed, please ensure that cribs in use do not have any soft bedding, stuffed animals or objects that could pose a hazard while infants are sleeping.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 7 children in care (24pts) with Provider and 1 assistant present. When the inspector arrived, children were observed playing with dominoes at the table top, interacting with staff, playing with cars and trucks and also some were observed taking morning naps. Walk thru of the programming area was made. All topical ointments reviewed and all children's records, staff records and 1 household record were reviewed. Positive interaction was observed between staff and children. Staff very knowledgeable of individual needs of the children. No medications on site today. No food allergies identified. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-960-B
Description: Based on observation of the children in care and staff statements, one baby who cannot hold their own bottle was not held during bottle feeding. Evidence: Child #4 was lying in the crib while being bottle fed by staff. This child cannot hold their own bottle and is required to be held when bottle fed.

Plan of Correction: Staff immediately picked the child up and held this child while being fed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-530-F
Description: Based on observation of the crib area, one occupied crib had soft bedding inside the crib. Evidence: One infant was observed sleeping in a crib with additional blankets folded inside the crib at the top of the infant's head.

Plan of Correction: The blankets were removed immediately.
