An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on December 5, 2018 between the hours of approximately 11:10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Fifteen (15) children were enrolled and eight children were in the care of one/two caregivers on this date (21 points). One additional child arrived for care after school, increasing the number of points to 22. Five children's records, three caregivers' records and one household member's record were reviewed and/or updated. No medications were on site/administered, on this date, as is the policy of this family day home. Facility documents, posted information and safety equipment (first aid kit, flashlight, fire extinguisher and radio) were observed/reviewed. The lunch provided on this date included lasagna, peaches and milk. Program observation was completed. Observed activities included: indoor play (toys); movement; coloring; restroom, diapering and handwashing procedures; lunch; naptime and arrival/departure of children. Adult/child interactions, behavior guidance and daily routines/transitions were also observed. The children knew and followed the daily routine and transitions well. One exception to compliance was noted on the accompanying Violation Notice. Thank you for your time and assistance during this renewal inspection. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A Description: Based on observation and discussion with the caregivers on December 5, 2018, one caregiver exceeded 16 points. Evidence: 1. At 11:10 a.m., on this date, one caregiver was present with eight children (21 points). Caregiver #2 arrived at the home just as the licensing inspector arrived. 2. Caregiver #2 confirmed the number of children in care, as well as the ages/points. Plan of Correction: Some children arrived for care earlier than expected today. In the future, a second caregiver will be present when the number of points exceeds 16.
