Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included required background checks and medication policies. To obtain the medication administration training, look on the website at under child care, resources and forms. We also discussed the annual fireplace inspection that will be required, and areas for emergency procedures.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today at the home's new location from 10 am - 12:30 pm. There were six children in care with the provider and assistant for 13 points. I observed the children involved in dramatic play (cooking hamburgers), selling cupcakes), listening reading stories and discussing different concepts related to yesterday's Christmas celebrations. The new area has two sunny and spacious classrooms with bright lighting and a wide variety of activities and learning centers. A separate eating area is also located in the area. If you have any questions, please contact me at

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A
Description: Based on a review of records today, not all parental agreements were complete. Evidence: Although page one of the medication policy was filled out for some children, there were no parent signatures available for review which documented that they received information regarding the medication policy for Child # 1, 2, and3.

Plan of Correction: We will have the parents complete the second page of the form.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-180-A
Description: Based on a review of records today, one adult did not have a current report of a negative Tuberculosis Screening as required. Evidence: Assistant # 1 had documentation of a TB screening that expired 8/18.

Plan of Correction: She will go in the next week.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-b
Description: Based on a review of records today, there was no documentation of a fingerprint search as required for one assistant. Evidence: Assistant #1 had a criminal record check done in 2016 but fingerprints are now required for all staff and household member over age 18..

Plan of Correction: She will get the fingerprints done as soon as possible.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-5-a
Description: Based on a review of records today, there was no available background check for a person living in the home who turned 14. Evidence: Household member # 3, who turned 14 in October, did not have documentation of a Search of the Child Registry within 30 days as required.

Plan of Correction: We will mail out the form.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
