54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:45am-12:10pm. There were 8 children (26 points) directly supervised by 2 staff. The home, 2 staff records, 2 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing freely, practicing spanish with the caregivers and reading books. Infants were observed crawling freely, being held during feedings, and being soothed when they were crying. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-730-D Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure all medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the bathroom utilized by children, three children's medications were observed in an upper unlocked cabinet. Plan of Correction: Medications will be placed in a locked container.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-750-A Description: Based on observation, the provider did not have all topical creams labeled with the child's name. Evidence: 1 of 10 topical creams observed were not labeled with the child's name. Plan of Correction: The cream was labeled on the date of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-960-E Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure all bottles were labeled with the child's name and date. Evidence: 2 of 5 bottles observed did not have the child's name or date labeled. Plan of Correction: We will label bottles going forward.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure a disinfectant was stored in an area inaccessble to children. Evidence: Disinfecting wipes were observed on a low cabinet in the children's napping room. Plan of Correction: Wipes will placed on a high cabinet.
