Technical Assistance:
Discussed with provider that Child Protective Services Central Registry Checks must be returned within 30 days of a new staff beginning employment. Recall information was also discussed.

Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 10:25am through 12:00pm. There were a total of 12 children present (34 points) with the Provider and 2 assistants. A total of 4 children?s files, 3 staff files, and 2 household member?s files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: free choice play, playing with blocks, reading stories during circle time and playing duck, duck, goose. A complete inspection of the programming space, children and staff records, evacuation drills, menu, attendance, and emergency procedures were completed today. The provider advised there was no medication on site today. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials and toys. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-130
Description: Based on staff interviews, 2 assistants providing care for the children were not able to demonstrate the ability to speak English. Evidence: 1. Staff #1 and Staff #2 both stated to the inspector that they did not speak English.

Plan of Correction: I will teach them the language and they will also take English classes.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on observation, the diapering surface used by infants in care was not nonabsorbent. Evidence: 1. The changing pad in the infant room was torn in two places making it absorbent and not able to be properly cleaned and sanitized.

Plan of Correction: The provider replaced the changing pad during the inspection.
