An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:50am-1:00pm. There were 11 children (33 points) supervised by 3 direct care staff. The home, 3 staff records, 6 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing in the play kitchen area, having storytime, eating lunch, and transitioning to naptime. Lunch served was chicken, potatoes, rice, lentils, pears, and milk. Bottle-feeding, toileting, and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on record review, 1 of 7 children's records did not contain all of the required information. Evidence: Child #3's (start date: 11/27/2017) record did not contain documentation of a completed physical signed by a physician. Plan of Correction: I will tell the parents today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-E Description: Based on observation, all equipment and materials used by children were not clean, nontoxic, and free from hazards. Evidence: A children's bead table had a broken metal wire, causing a safety hazard for children. Plan of Correction: The bead table was removed from the daycare during inspection.
