Technical Assistance:
We discussed the requirement for providing written menus to parents. The risk assessment for a violation was provided. We reviewed the requirements for background check frequency, children's records and school information, caregiver hand washing, emergency plan training, pool barriers/locks, and surfacing at equipment.

Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 11:08 AM to 2:30 PM. Today, there were twelve children in care, infancy through age five years (25 points). Four school age children receive care before and/or after school when some of the younger children are not present. No more than twelve children in care at any one time. I viewed daily routines, lunch, nutrition, activities, equipment, posted information, diapering procedures, emergency plan, emergency supplies and drill records, five records for children, three records for caregivers/residents, caregiver training, pet record, indoor and outdoor areas. A consultant with Infant and Toddler Network has been visiting and providing training and ideas. The children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt this morning. Group activities have included opportunities to learn the alphabet and nursery rhymes. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920
Description: Based on a review of posted information, a review of information provided to parents, and an interview with the provider, the provider has not been giving the menu for the current one-week period to parents or posted the menu in an area accessible to parents. Evidence: The menu on the bulletin board in the child care room was dated November 25, 2018 to December 1, 2018. When questioned about a menu given to parents, the provider indicated that the menu is kept on the computer for submission to the food program and parents have been told verbally about food served to their children.

Plan of Correction: The provider immediately printed and posted this week's menu for each day's breakfast, snacks and lunch. The provider will make sure parents have access to a current written menu.
