Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on April 17, 2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspection was initiated at 10:00 am and concluded at 12:30 pm. Upon the inspector's arrival there were five children in care with one provider for a value of 13 points. Children had just finished painting and were playing with blocks and the kitchen set. The assistant/household member stepped in and read the children a story while the provider worked with the Inspector. Later children had a snack and time outside to play. Hand washing was conducted before and after the snack and upon retuning inside. Children watched a video while lunch was prepared. Today's lunch consisted of chicken nuggets, rice, broccoli, fruit and milk. Nap time was also observed. The family day home is equipped with age appropriate materials and supplies. Caregivers interacted with the children in a positive manner. The childcare area is decorated with seasonal decorations. All areas used for child care were inspected along with a full walk through of the home. The pool ladder was locked and prevented access to the pool. The first aid kit and non-medical supplies for the home and vehicle were inspected and found complete. The family day home had the required information posted to include; license, most recent inspection notice, emergency numbers, daily schedule, menu and calendar of activities. The inspector interacted with the provider and children in care. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found. Two caregiver records, one new household resident's record and five children's records were reviewed. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 03/13/2019. One of the two required shelter-in-place drills for 2019 was documented on 03/18/2019. A second shelter-in-place drill will need to be completed by the end of the year. A lock down drill was completed on 03/19/2019. Per the Provider: Currently no medications are being administered. Caregivers have current CPR and First aid. One caregiver has MAT certification. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758
