Comments:
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted in the Family Day Home on April 18, 2019. There were 10 children present and in care of a substitute provider and one assistant. The ages of the children ranged from 7 months to 5 years. Based on the ages of the children, the total points were 23. A prescribed emergency medication was observed for a child in care. A discussion was held with the Provider and a child's parent regarding the administration of a dietary supplement. A suggestion was given to the parent to request a written authorization/recommendation from the child's physician for record retention. A sample of 5 children's records was reviewed. Documentation of the practiced emergency drills was reviewed. Required Information and Background Checks were reviewed for 5 caregivers. The children were observed after nap time, during a structured circle activity, snack time and free play. The children were taken outdoors for active play in the fenced area. Caregivers were observed interacting with the children. Dismissal procedures were observed in the late afternoon. There were no observed violations. The inspection in the FDH was conducted from approximately 1:45 to 5:20 PM. If you have any questions, please e-mail elaine.moore@dss.virginia.gov Thank you for your assistance during the inspection.
