Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 12:45 p.m. with the provider and assistant. There were 12 children in care ranging in age from 4 months to 4 years of age for a total of 32 points. Younger children were having outdoor play at the start of the inspection. Preschoolers were observed completing worksheets, and practicing cutting out shapes while one infant had free play and a second infant was put down for nap. After their lesson, preschoolers prepared for outdoor play and the younger children returned inside to wash hands and prepare for lunch. Lunch today was meatballs, mashed potatoes, butter beans and milk. Two infants were observed being fed bottles. Two caregiver records, two back-up caregivers and one household member were reviewed. Three pet (cats) records were reviewed. Emergency drills are up to date. The weekly menu is posted. Attendance was reviewed. Staff training hours were reviewed. Both the provider and assistant have completed 14 hours of training and have until 5/1/2019 to complete an additional 2 hours of training to be in compliance with the annual training requirements. The provider is not medication administration training (MAT) certified and does not administer medications. If you have any questions regarding today's inspection, please contact Stephanie Reed at (540) 272-6558 or S.Reed@dss.virginia.gov.
